I CAN READ! Building Strong Reading Identity in the Early Years - Faciliated by Lisa Burman

Reading is a complex process of constructing meaning. It begins long before children can read conventional print - long before they can decode words. This workshop will explore how empowering it is to begin our intentional teaching from a reading identity perspective - for children, families and educators. You'll learn ways to intentionally create opportunities for children to: - use their agency as readers - meaningfully engage with texts in their play - see themselves as readers and build a strong disposition to engage with texts - develop strategies for meaning making and oral language composition with texts.
